A structure plan outlines how a town will develop and change over time. It provides guidance on how to manage and facilitate change within a town or area. It includes a vision along with strategies and actions to achieve the vision. This includes how land can be used, what facilities and infrastructure are required to support the town and how challenges and opportunities will be managed.
Bundalong is a small township nestled within the relatively unspoilt environment of the upper reaches of Lake Mulwala and the Ovens River. Home to approximately 512 people, it is also a popular second home and holiday destination where people can enjoy the environment and take part in water-based activities.
The structure plan considers how to make the most of the many attributes of the area while managing the impacts of tourism, a changing climate and growth.
The structure plan ensures that any changes are well considered and planned to maintain and enhance Bundalong’s character and vibrance.
The draft structure plan has been developed in consultation with community members. Stage 1 Consultation occurred during June and July 2025 and included an online survey, two drop-in sessions in Bundalong and one online information session.
The results of this engagement are summarised in the Community Engagement Report and have been used to shape the draft structure plan.
A background report outlines all the research and data to support the recommendations of the structure plan. This provides the foundation for the development of the structure plan.
The Draft Bundalong Structure Plan is now available for community comment.
Once community comments have been considered the final structure plan will be developed and presented to council for formal adoption. In June 2025, Council ran Stage 1 consultation, including an online survey, drop in sessions, an online session and written submissions.
